Description:

Have you ever wanted a role where your work genuinely protects people and supports the justice system - not just behind the scenes, but at the centre of decisions that matter?

This is not a typical office role. As part of our Subject Access Request team supporting the Ministry of Justice, you'll play a vital role in ensuring sensitive information is handled safely, accurately and in line with legal requirements, contributing directly to fairness, transparency and public safety.

You'll gain valuable experience in data protection, compliance and risk assessment while reviewing and processing confidential information relating to employees, offenders and ex-offenders. Some content may be distressing, so you'll need to be comfortable working with challenging material and able to stay focused and professional at all times.

You'll join a supportive, close-knit team who take pride in delivering safe and accurate work. This is a meaningful role that requires resilience, but for the right person, it's highly rewarding and makes a real difference.

This role is based at our Newport Centre of Excellence, working Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 17:00, with flexible working patterns available. Some home working may be possible in the future.

What you'll be doing:

  • Reviewing high volumes of sensitive documentation and redacting information where required.
  • Ensuring all outputs comply with the Data Protection Act and internal procedures.
  • Collating, processing and quality-checking case files with a high level of accuracy.
  • Identifying and escalating risks or inconsistencies that could impact safety or compliance.
  • Managing workloads effectively to meet strict deadlines and targets.
  • Maintaining accurate records for audit purposes and resolving queries as required.

What you'll bring:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain sustained focus.
  • The ability to work calmly and professionally when exposed to distressing information.
  • Strong reading comprehension and the ability to interpret complex written material.
  • Proven accuracy when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Confidence using standard IT systems and managing digital documentation.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to build positive working relationships.

It would be great if you had:

  • An understanding of data protection principles.
  • Experience using Adobe Pro or document capture tools.
  • Previous experience working in a compliance-driven environment.

If you're interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we're looking for, please do apply, we'd love to hear from you!
