Job Title: Rent Administrator / Rent Transactions Co-ordinator

Location: Middlesbrough (Hybrid - 1 day in the office per week)

Rate: £21.49 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract: Initially 4 weeks (likely extension)

Hours: 30 hours per week

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Rent Administrator to support a housing organisation on a short-term contract. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong rent accounting experience and excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payments and reconcile Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and Supporting People income within agreed timescales
  • Raise rent debits across property groups and generate reports for system interfaces and financial close-downs
  • Reconcile payment and transaction files against bank statements, ensuring accurate allocation to customer accounts
  • Investigate and resolve anomalies, including payments held in suspense accounts
  • Maintain accurate property and tenancy databases, including rent and stock updates
  • Support the wider team with rent accounting processes and system data integrity
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and financial controls

About You

  • Previous experience in rent accounting or income administration, ideally within social housing
  • Strong understanding of rent accounting, debit control, and reconciliation processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using multiple IT systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads to meet deadlines
