COMPANY:   

An exciting opportunity to join our established family firm in our friendly residential conveyancing team.  The successful candidate will have previous experience as a legal secretary/assistant within a similar role.

SKILLS REQUIRED:  

Legal Secretary/Assistant experience in a conveyancing department would be preferred.

Strong and efficient secretarial, administration skills with strong organisational and time management ability.  Accurate typing and IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and a keen willingness to embrace case management system to produce correspondence and other documents related to property transactions.  Experience of case managements systems will be an advantage.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal with a high attention to detail and accuracy.  Maintenance of comprehensive and accurate client files.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide a full effective friendly service to clients and secretarial support to fee earner in the department.  Opening and closing files and conducting money laundering checks.

Meeting and greeting of clients where necessary and taking calls and directing accordingly, responding to client’s queries via telephone and booking meeting room appointments, including fee earner diary management.

Undertaking online Land Registry searches and responding to enquiries from clients and on behalf of lawyers.

Progressing client sales, purchases, and re-mortgage files under fee earner’s supervision, drafting letters and preparing reports.

Assisting with preparation of Completion Statements and invoicing and assisting conveyancing fee earner to bill matters accurately and pay and collect disbursements in accordance with professional practice.

Managing post completion procedures including SDLT returns and title registrations.

Standard holiday entitlement plus Bank Holidays plus a period of office closure over the Christmas/New Year period at the partners’ discretion.
